The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped five places in the latest FIFA rankings. The team now occupies the 67th position in the latest rankings provided on April 7.

Nigeria failed in their bid to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations when the team was condemned to an early exit by the Pharaohs of Egypt who won the second leg 1 – 0 in Alexandria, with a 1 – 1 score line five days earlier in Kaduna.
This awful performance has left the team as the fourteenth best team in Africa, going behind teams like Mali, Guinea, Congo DR amongst others.
Argentina reclaimed top spot from Belgium in Thursdays FIFA world rankings, while Copa America champions Chile soared to an all-time high of third place.
Three straight wins in 2018 World Cup qualifiers helped Argentina return to the summit, five months after they were supplanted by Belgium.

Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis accused UEFA of “protecting” Barcelona after their Champions League quarter-final first leg defeat at the Nou Camp and even questioned what it would take for a referee “to send one of them off”.
Coming from a neutral point of view, I was surprised Luis Suarez was allowed to stay on the pitch after this CLEAR kick on Juafran in the first half of their encounter with Barcelona in the Champions League.
According to Filipe Luis, “The sending off ( of Torres) is totally unjust and changed the game. Barcelona are protected. When you play against them you realise that they are a very powerful club,” Luis said.
“You realise the fear when Barcelona could get knocked out. It would hurt UEFA a lot. I don’t know what they have to do for someone to send one of them off.”

So what does it really take for a Barca player to get sent off?
Only two Barcelona players have been sent off in all competitions this season and both for merely foul language.
According to stats, Barcelona has more players sent off against them more than any other team in the history of the champions league. Coincidence?
Fernando Torres joins the likes of Edgar Davids, John Terry and Jens Lehmann on the 31-man list of players to have an early shower during a Barcelona match.
Torres had given his side an early lead but following his sending off, Atletico were unable to repel wave after wave of Barcelona attack and were eventually beaten by two goals from Suarez.
Suarez the scorer of the 2 goals shouldn’t even have been on the pitch that long let alone score those goals.
